FPW2009 :: Westmoreland Mall

Location: Westmoreland Mall, Route 30, Hempfield Township

Adamsburg and Community Volunteer Fire Department Participated in a fire department showcase at Westmoreland Mall on Route 30 in Hempfield Township.  Quint 10 and Rescue 10 was on display for spectators to see.  ACVFD Firefighters set up a stokes basket at the end of the ladder on Quint 10 to show spectators how someone would be rescued from an elevated position. Their was also a rescue demonstration performed by the township fire departments, police demonstrations, water rescue teams, the burn and fire safety house, and a large amount of fire apparatus on site to be seen.

Adamsburg and Community Volunteer Fire Department Participated in a fire department showcase at Home Depot on Route 30 in Hempfield Township.  Quint 10 was on display for spectators see.  Their was a rescue demonstration performed, and a workshop for kids. 

 

09-0246 :: Garage Fire

Location: Bucktown Road, Hempfield Township

Adamsburg and Community Volunteer Fire Department responded to a reported garage fire.  Upon arrival of Quint 10 crews found a large amount of smoke coming from the second story window of the garage.  Crews forced entry into the garage to find a Dodge Ram pickup truck that had an engine compartment fire.  Crews extinguished the fire and secured the garage because the homeowner was not home at the time of the fire..

09-0081 :: MVC with Entrapment

Location: Arona Road, Hempfield Township

Adamsburg and Community Volunteer Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle collision along Arona Road in Hempfield Township. Upon arrival Fire Fighters had to use the “Jaws of Life” to remove two patients from thier vehicles. In all three patients were transported by STAT Medevac to a trauma center in Pittsburgh.

09-0044 through 09-0062 :: Storm Damage

Location: Hempfield Township, Adamsburg and Arona Boroughs

Adamsburg and Community Volunteer Fire Department responded to multiple storm related calls on the night of Wednesday Feb. 11th, through the day of Thursday, Feb. 12th. The department was kept busy removing trees from roadways, mitigating hazards from down wires, and removing a tree that had fallen onto a residence damaging the roof.

09-0038 :: Automatic Fire Alarm

Location: Renaissance Plan, Hempfield Township

Adamsburg and Community Volunteer Fire Department responded to a residential automatic fire alarm. Upon arrival an initial search of the residence showed no findings. As firefighters did a more extensive investigation they smelt what would be determined to be burnt food left on the stove. A ladder was placed to access an elevated porch and upon looking in the window a light haze of smoke was seen in the kitchen area.
