The Adamsburg and Community Volunteer Fire Department assisted in instructing the Westmoreland County Community College – EMT Class during their Motor Vehicle Collision and Rescue Module. Students learned how to treat patients that have been involved in a MVC and are still within the vehicle. During the class the students got introduced to the different tools used by Rescue Companies to extricate patients that are entrapped within their vehicles. The students saw how a successful vehicle rescue can make treatment of a patient easier.
Students used the tools off of ACVFD Rescue 10 and Strawpump Rescue 2 to practice these skills. The students were also introduced to performing extrication’s and rescues in cold weather situations. The weather this day was a high of 35 degrees and light snow conditions.
