Station 10 and the first alarm assignment were sent to Baltimore St. in our First Due for a Reported Chimney Fire. Captain 10-3 arrived to find an active fire in a wood-burner chimney. Engine 15 arrived and took the address. Quint 10 arrived next and put its aerial to the roof. Engines 2 and Engine 18 set up a split lay in the event it might be needed. Engine 10, Rescue 10, and Rescue 2, arrived and sent their crews forward to assist with operations. Interior crews removed an affected section of chimney piping, that had turned “cherry red” from the heat. The roof division used the “Chimney Chains” to remove the remaining hot creosote from the chimney. As a precaution due to the extreme heat from the chimney fire, the “Working Fire Dispatch” was sent. When the chimney was cleared, units returned as the picked up.
